About fifteen hours ago… Neptune went direct. It’s been few years since I blogged on here, discussed astrology, or explained any astronomical physics. Fire up Starry Night Pro is what I’m thinkin. Seems like a time of some fresh planning and follow through.
From the Metro News in Toronto today:
Pink (born September 8, 1979) is waiting for her birthday next year to seek clarity in her own life, and she has speculated that this will come about via her Saturn Return. Your Saturn return is the same as your birthday, but instead of being the time when the Sun comes back to where it was when you were born, Saturn’s orbit takes 28-30 years, so this will mark Pink’s first ‘Saturn Birthday’.
It is not often that we see celebrities openly using practical astrology, especially in the media, as the Saturn birthday is as much of an important stepping stone in life as ones own regular birthday. Solar returns give much insight into the year to come, but the Saturn returns launches you over the threshold to adulthood, from where you meet the limits of time, maturity and death.
It is commonly accepted that one does not reach adulthood until the age of 30, and Saturn signifies maturity, structure, and limits – a threshold once passed, adults must face these turning points of life, or be doomed to repeat the lessons first met at 28 years at the second Saturn Return. This usually occurs around ones mid-life crisis. Liz Greene is one of the most knowledgeable authors on the topic of Saturn, and has written the book Saturn: A New Look at an Old Devil. A must read for anyone approaching or mystified by this event.
28-30 is the coming of age in the astrological world, and there is no better planet which teaches us this lesson than Saturn. Pink’s Saturn is amidst a huge Virgo stellium
Exactly squaring her natal Neptune at 17° Sagittarius (currently her Neptune is being squared by transitting rebellious and disrupting Uranus in Pisces). So we may see a more mature, sophisticated and potentially reserved Pink come next year. Uranus in Pisces is not only squaring Neptune, but it is also opposing that entire Virgo stellium, looking directly at her Saturn and challenging it. Pink may face many problems in the following year concerning Virgonian (mercury-ruled sorting, cleaning, nutrition, cleanliness, education, legal matters, business) and Piscean (jupiter-ruled belief, knowledge) and her stellium will only complicate matters further. There may be some more rebellion against the musical status quo, but once Pink has completed the reuturn, which will probably en once Saturn leaves Virgo for Libra – if Pink is prepared, she will surely change her outlook and perspective at this juncture and reap Saturn’s rewards.
Synchronicity mirrors popular culture and global politics in every generation. In 2009, Uranus will ingress into Aries, and a change of music, film genres and media focus is shifting along with it.
The 1970s brought intense conflict between Russia, Afghanistan, and neighboring countries. On August 7th, 1968 the Afghan War began and Uranus was changing signs to Libra.
The Watchmen sets their book in 1985, in what was at that time an alternate history of the United States where Russia and Afghanistan are at war, and the imminent threat of the apocalypse is dwindled by the book’s own chapter clock ticking closer to midnight. In 1985, upon the graphic novel’s release, Uranus was in Sagittarius, heading to Capricorn.
Comparable to 1985, the year 2008 has had its equal share of political, financial and civil problems spread over a multitude of countries. Such as in the Watchmen comic, the US is electing a new president, there is continued strife in Afghanistan and Russia is in trouble for a recent invasion into another country. The date when the Watchmen trailer for the film’s release next year was on the night of the Dark Knight Release, July 18, 2008 with Uranus in late Pisces.
There are numerous similarities to the book’s characteristics paralleling current events today. As one blogger posts how Alan Moore’s story of the Watchmen is not pertinent to today’s critical movie goer audience age group due to the fact that the cold war was for the baby-boomer generation making ends meet during the 1980s, before those in diapers. 2008 has a same problem different day correlation to 1985 with threats of terror, unbalance of power, and social unrest.
Watchmen is of its time. Just look at this set photo from Snyder’s movie. It’s trying very, very hard to look like New York, circa 1985 — and it’s mostly succeeding, way more than the American version of Life On Mars manages to capture 1972 Los Angeles. But it’s also missing the point: Watchmen is supposed to take place in the present day, an alternate present where Richard Nixon is still president, superheroes are real, and the Cold War is even more fucked up than it really was. The storyline loses a lot of its impact if you put it 24 years into the past, no matter how lovingly you construct that past. And it’s going to take a lot more than gorgeous sets and obsessive attention to detail to conjure the long-gone Cold War mindset for moviegoers, many of whom were in diapers when the Berlin Wall fell.
Both the Watchmen and world events not only mirror each other, they give the world stage a comparative story to put the politics, wars and environment into personal perspective. But what does that say for us, as it is up to us to change our course of direction, or we are bound to crash into whatever we are looking towards, headstrong, like Uranus dropping into Aries.
Just 45 minutes following, the moon went full in Aries, ruling over Mars in its own domicile in Scorpio, activatin the Sun in Libra and Venus in Scorpio.
I was slightly disheartened to see that not one US news network gave any coverage. CNN and Fox news were focusing on blunders at the podium.
There is a seat system adopted here, but majority and minority governments often occur when there large percentages of one party’s dominance when municipal ridings are won in certain areas.
Presently we have a couple parties, with 5 major ones
1. CON – Conservative Party
2. LIB – Liberal Party
3. NDP – New Democratic Party
4. GRN – Green Party
5. BQ – Bloc Québécois
AAE – Animal Alliance Environment Voters Party
CAP – Canadian Action Party
CHP – Christian Heritage Party
COM – Communist Party
FPN – First Peoples National Party
LBT – Libertarian Party
M-L – Marxist-Leninist Party
MP – Marijuana Party
NRP – Neo-Rhino Party
PCP – Progressive Canadian Party
WB – Western Block Party
Elections Canada stated this morning that the seat distribution is counted
so far, counting is not yet complete:
Conservatives: 143 seats, 37.6%
Liberals: 76 seats, 26.2%
Bloc Quebecois: 50 seats, 10%
NDP: 37 seats, 18.2%
Other parties: 2 seats, 8%

So the polls ended at 9:30pm last night in Vancouver, PST time, making it 12:30am here in Ottawa, Ontario, the captial of Canada.
Here is the chart for this morning at 12:30am for Ottawa, as the last ballot is cast in BC.
The transits are here in green over each of the candidates natal charts.
Please be advised that the times are NOON BIRTHS, so please disregard the ascendant.
Democratic Leader Stephen Harper
Liberal Leader Stephane Dion
NDP Leader Jack Layton
Bloc Quebecois Leader Gilles Duceppe
Green Party Leader Elizabeth May
This election at the present moment the Conservatives went up from 127 seats to 143, and the liberals dropped 19 seats to 76. Basically, everything is staying the same, but the biggest loss was the Green Party’s inability to get a seat in the House for the first time in history.
Does it look as if the candidates charts reflect the popularity showing in the polls? It appears if Canadians are pleased with the current state of affairs, and wish to continue the same course.
The elderly republican candidate has been so hot and bothered by the US financial fallout that it has overshadowed the calm demeanour of candidate Barack Obama.
Barack has managed to keep a level head and has not been pulling stunts or causing drama, unlike McCain, who stated that the ‘fundamentals of the economy were strong’ days prior to the economic collapse of Wall St., vowed then to suspend his campaign until the crisis is resolved, then re-instituted his campaign before the stock crash made a rebound, supported a vice-Presidential nominee clearly incapable of fulfilling her job, and has hurled insults at Barack Obama for his lack of involvement in the financial market bailout.
All of this has happened in a relatively short period of time.
With Robert Blaschke’s chart of McCain here, there are the Sun, Neptune and Venus in Virgo, and the ruler of Virgo, Mercury, is in aversion in Libra.
Now the interesting part comes from a digg article by Joe Klein titled “Anger vs. Steadiness in the Crisis”, outlining the difference in response to the stock market catastrophe between Obama and McCain.
The part which struck me was the word “mercurial” in this quote in the article.
Mercury itself is currently in retrograde (backward) motion, beginning on September 23rd EST time, and will continue to appear to move backwards until October 16
The interesting point about Mercury is that its characteristics, or ‘significations’ are traditionally:
- the education of children
- keeping things up the air
- legal matters
When Mercury goes ‘retrograde’ or ‘Rx’, what it does to these significations is ‘take them away’, break them, and make one re-do, re-think, or fix mistakes in matters pertaining to the aforementioned topics.
I thought of Karl Rove. Back in 2003, at the height of Howard Dean mania, Rove was skeptical about Dean’s staying power as a candidate: “When was the last time Americans elected an angry President?” Much has been written about McCain’s mercurial temperament during the past few weeks….
Interesting choice of words considering the timing of Mercury and McCain’s natal chart. Please note that Mercury will perform a retrograde action like this three times a year, which is important to consider for someone whom is so taken by the reigns by this small planet.

Here is his delineation of the eclipse, discussing the effects on particular countries, namely Canada, with reference to beheadings. In Canadian news yesterday, a beheading did occur ” Bus passenger beheaded seat mate, witness says“, giving Sam credit for the prediction.
Sam discusses this eclipse from a Vedic perspective, using the sidereal zodiac of fixed stars to determine the location of the planets, moving them approximately 24˚ backwards (ie. 25˚ Aries would move to 1˚ Aries).
I found my copy of Nick Campion‘s The Book of World Horoscopes, which happened to contain the foundation charts of the major cities in the direct path of the August 1st, Eclipse, just mere days away.
Canada, Russia and China are getting activity in unique areas of their respective charts; Canada in the 11th & 12th houses, Russia in their 4th, 5th & 9th, and lastly China, with heavy 9th & 10th house influences.
*Note: Please be aware for the following charts that the green planets on the outer ring of each foundation chart represents the August 1st, 2008 Eclipse positions of the planets, there should be the Sun , Moon , Mercury & Venus in Leo , and Mars & Saturn in Virgo .
Saturn keeps coming up on this blog, and I was discussing with someone that it signifies oil, as that is dead black stuff under the ground, and it comes up in the mars/saturn conjunction in Virgo, and the Leo/aquarius opposition.
As this chart begins in Nunavut (3rd and newest Territory in Canada), passes right over the Arctic Circle, goes exact over Nadym, Siberia, and tapers off in China.
Nick Campion’s “The Book of World Horoscopes” contains these charts, along with the transits of the August 1st, eclipse, beginning with Canada:
Then we move on to the Formation of the Russian Federation:
And lastly, China, with a difficult chart to choose from, seeing as how their origins as a country fall around the 2nd millenium BC. As the book gives three charts, the formation of the People’s Republic of China during the Chinese Peoples’ Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) in 1949 is the chosen chart
