Synchronicity at Play with Uranus: History Repeating in the Watchmen & US Global Crisis

Watchmen Movie Poster - The Comedian

Synchronicity mirrors popular culture and global politics in every generation. In 2009, Uranus will ingress into Aries, and a change of music, film genres and media focus is shifting along with it.

The 1970s brought intense conflict between Russia, Afghanistan, and neighboring countries. On August 7th, 1968 the Afghan War began and Uranus was changing signs to Libra.

The Watchmen sets their book in 1985, in what was at that time an alternate history of the United States where Russia and Afghanistan are at war, and the imminent threat of the apocalypse is dwindled by the book’s own chapter clock ticking closer to midnight. In 1985, upon the graphic novel’s release, Uranus was in Sagittarius, heading to Capricorn.

Comparable to 1985, the year 2008 has had its equal share of political, financial and civil problems spread over a multitude of countries.  Such as in the Watchmen comic, the US is electing a new president, there is continued strife in Afghanistan and Russia is in trouble for a recent invasion into another country.   The date when the Watchmen trailer for the film’s release next year was on the night of the Dark Knight Release, July 18, 2008 with Uranus in late Pisces.

There are numerous similarities to the book’s characteristics paralleling current events today. As one blogger posts how Alan Moore’s story of the Watchmen is not pertinent to today’s critical movie goer audience age group due to the fact that the cold war was for the baby-boomer generation making ends meet during the 1980s, before those in diapers. 2008 has a same problem different day correlation to 1985 with threats of terror, unbalance of power, and social unrest.

Watchmen is of its time. Just look at this set photo from Snyder’s movie. It’s trying very, very hard to look like New York, circa 1985 — and it’s mostly succeeding, way more than the American version of Life On Mars manages to capture 1972 Los Angeles. But it’s also missing the point: Watchmen is supposed to take place in the present day, an alternate present where Richard Nixon is still president, superheroes are real, and the Cold War is even more fucked up than it really was. The storyline loses a lot of its impact if you put it 24 years into the past, no matter how lovingly you construct that past. And it’s going to take a lot more than gorgeous sets and obsessive attention to detail to conjure the long-gone Cold War mindset for moviegoers, many of whom were in diapers when the Berlin Wall fell.

Both the Watchmen and world events not only mirror each other, they give the world stage a comparative story to put the politics, wars and environment into personal perspective.  But what does that say for us, as it is up to us to change our course of direction, or we are bound to crash into whatever we are looking towards, headstrong, like Uranus dropping into Aries.

August 1, 2008 Eclipse: Part II

The Book of World Horoscopes

Nick Campion: The Book of World Horoscopes

I found my copy of Nick Campion‘s The Book of World Horoscopes, which happened to contain the foundation charts of the major cities in the direct path of the August 1st, Eclipse, just mere days away.

Canada, Russia and China are getting activity in unique areas of their respective charts; Canada in the 11th & 12th houses, Russia in their 4th, 5th & 9th, and lastly China, with heavy 9th & 10th house influences.

*Note: Please be aware for the following charts that the green planets on the outer ring of each foundation chart represents the August 1st, 2008 Eclipse positions of the planets, there should be the Sun , Moon , Mercury  & Venus  in Leo , and Mars  & Saturn  in Virgo .

Eclipse of August 1st, 2008

Saturn keeps coming up on this blog, and I was discussing with someone that it signifies oil, as that is dead black stuff under the ground, and it comes up in the mars/saturn conjunction in Virgo, and the Leo/aquarius opposition.

As this chart begins in Nunavut (3rd and newest Territory in Canada), passes right over the Arctic Circle, goes exact over Nadym, Siberia, and tapers off in China.

Nick Campion’s “The Book of World Horoscopes” contains these charts, along with the transits of the August 1st, eclipse, beginning with Canada:

Dominion of Canada

Then we move on to the Formation of the Russian Federation:

USSR Formation

And lastly, China, with a difficult chart to choose from, seeing as how their origins as a country fall around the 2nd millenium BC. As the book gives three charts, the formation of the People’s Republic of China during the Chinese Peoples’ Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) in 1949 is the chosen chart [1]
